A Single Swallow – Following an epic journey from South Africa to South Wales
Author, radio producer and journalist, Horatio Clare, grew up on a farm in South Wales, where he vividly remembers the Swallows arriving every spring and their departure each autumn. Recently a chance encounter with the birds triggered an adventure, recounted in the book. The author joined the Swallows in South Africa in January and travelled ‘with’ them up through Africa and Europe back to the Welsh hills. Travel writing for the naturalist, this is a very enjoyable read which gives some insight into the habitats and human situations Swallows encounter on their amazing annual journey.
