Cover Birds

This slim paperback is a vehicle for reprinting the drawings, paintings and lino-cuts which Robert Gillmor has done for the various publications of the Berkshire Ornithological Society (previously Reading Ornithological Club) – especially the covers for their annual reports but also program cards, books and a few others.  The first of these was in for the 1949 report and he continues to do them to the present.

The whole effectively amounts to a history of Robert’s development as an illustrator, particularly as the text has various details of the illustrations themselves and the production processes involved.  The text also often includes the birding story which led to that particular species being the subject for the relevant year’s report or other publication.
