With most migrants here and on breeding territory, late May is traditionally a time when interest - in some quarters, at least - turns to scarce, rare and downright 'mega' migrants. Firmly in the latter category, Britain and Ireland's 38th Cream-coloured Courser - the first since 2004 - proved a popular attraction, hosted by the unlikely rarity-attracting county of Herefordshire. More aptly, the bird chose to reside on/near a golf course, where it spent 4 days from 20 May (perhaps even 6, judging by this conversation).
