The latest reporting rate for Bittern tells its own story, as does this week's fine 'on ice' photograph! Another BirdTrack flickr pool image that recently caught my eye was an excellent flight shot of a Kittiwake; this pelagic gull has only been recorded in 14 10-km squares to date in 2011 but reoccupation of colonies will begin as early as February so sightings around the coast will be on the increase in the weeks ahead.
