With the wind swinging round to the west, the week's highlights were dominated by seabirds. Large numbers of Leach's Petrels were seen off the west coast, including 335 in a day from Hilbre Island in Cheshire, and there were even a couple of Little Shearwater sightings. There were also several Wrynecks at inland locations such as Sherborne in Dorset, Nailsworth in Gloucestershire and Heaton in Derbyshire; migration certainly throws up a few surprises!
