Whimbrel has one of the most striking reporting rates* of any species in BirdTrack. Fewer than 1% of complete lists feature Whimbrel from November to March because only small numbers overwinter. A large spring passage, particularly in the west, sees the rate reach more than 7% before falling away again in June. The second peak is in late July / early August and the latest results show that 2010 is no exception with Whimbrel already featuring on more than 6% of complete lists.
