Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey

Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey

11 Jul 2013

Red Admiral by John Harding
We are teaming up with Butterfly Conservation again for another year of the Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey to monitor butterflies across the general countryside, and we need volunteers to count butterflies on a local 1-km square. Don’t worry if you can’t tell your rare blues apart; we are  primarily interested in counts of common species, and a butterfly ID chart is provided. Breeding Bird Survey volunteers can count butterflies on extra visits to their normal square (contact bbs [at] bto.org to sign up), and butterfly-only squares are available via Butterfly Conservation (email survey [at] butterfly-conservation.org).
