An introduction to the nesting birds you may encounter in your garden, their ecology, how to safely monitor their nests and submit the information to Nesting Neighbours.

The training will consist of one online module of 90 minutes. The training will be run by BTO staff members Hazel McCambridge and Susan Jones.

During the free 90-minute webinar, we will be:

Dispelling nesting myths;

  • Looking at the behaviours of our most common nesting birds such as Blue Tit, Robin, Blackbird and House Sparrow, among other species;
  • Introducing how to garden to help nesting birds;
  • Discussing how to safely find nests in the garden, including the nest monitoring Code of Conduct;
  • Explaining how to enter the information you collect to Nesting Neighbours.

There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

In order to participate you will need:

  • broadband of sufficient speed to view live video
  • a computer with sound and ideally a webcam, or a tablet/smartphone.
