KP shifts south in Ivory Coast
Bluey reaches Guinea
New updates received early this morning show that Bluey has flown 2,650km (1,647 miles) west from his last location in Cameroon to his new location in southern Guinea.
He is now 50km north-east of the city of Kissidougou and approximately 100km west of Cuckoo Trent.
Sayaan reaches Ivory Coast
Sayaan was clearly just passing through Nigeria as new updates show that he pressed on to Ivory Coast.
He is now in south-eastern Ivory Coast, close to the village of Kotogwanda and just 100km north-west of Cuckoo KP.
Sayaan moving West
Over the last few days Sayaan has left his wintering grounds in the Congo Basin and flown almost 2,000km (1,243 miles) north and west to his new location in southern Nigeria.
He is now just north of Mahin Lake in the southern part of Ondo State. It'll be interesting to see if he stays here or continues west to join Trent and KP in Ivory Coast or Guinea.
KP heads west
Since our last update Irish Cuckoo KP has made a big move West. Over the last week or so he has departed the Congo and flown 2,208km (1,372 miles) via Cameroon and Ghana to his new location in Ivory Coast.
This makes him the second of our tagged Cuckoos (after Trent) to make the move west. He is currently in eastern Ivory Coast, just north of the city of Abengourou.
The influence of the inter-tropical convergence zone means that there has been significant rainfall in this area over the past few weeks so KP will be able to benefit from the abundance of insects that this brings.
We expect KP to remain in west Africa for a few weeks while he feeds up in preparation for the next leg of his journey which will take him north across the Sahara.
Joe moves into the Republic of Congo
Since our last update Joe has flown 250km (155 miles) north west from his last location in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, over the border into the Republic of Congo.
He is now in north-eastern Congo, approximately 85km south of the town of Impfondo.
Trent moves into Guinea
After a brief stop in Ivory Coast, Trent has flown a further 382km (237 miles) north-west, taking him over the border into Guinea.
He is now in the south-eastern corner of Guinea, approximately 33km (20 miles) south of the town of Senko.
Joe in DRC
Joe remains on his wintering grounds in the Congo Basin.
He is currently near a large oxbow lake on the Busira RIver in north-west Democratic Republic of the Congo. We expect to see Joe moving west soon.
Cuach Cores remains in DRC
Cuach Cores is the most easterly of all our tagged Cuckoos. He is currently in the rainforest between the Tshuapa and Maringa Rivers in the Congo Basin of north-central Democratic Republic of Congo.
We expect to see Cores moving west soon.
Sayaan still in DRC
Sayaan has spent the winter so far in the Congo Basin close to the Maringa River in north-central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). We expect him to start moving West soon.
