Clement in Cameroon

29 Feb 2012

A transmission on 22 Feb at 19.55 shows that Clement remains in the same location in the south of Cameroon.

Kasper remains near Lake Volta

29 Feb 2012

We received a transmission from Kasper's tag yesterday (28 Feb) at 21.12 which showed no further movements and indicated that he was still at the northern end of Lake Volta, Ghana.

Kasper in Ghana

24 Feb 2012

Transmissions received yesterday between 7pm and 9pm show that Kasper has continued his journey. He has travelled 390km (242 miles) west from his location in Nigeria and is now in Ghana. He is currently at the northern end of Lake Volta, the largest reservoir by surface area in the world, and the fourth largest one by water volume.

Lyster lagging in Congo

21 Feb 2012

We received a signal from Lyster on the 16 Feb which showed that he has made no further movements northwards as of yet. With both Kasper and Clement having travelled hundreds of miles north, could Lyster be on the move soon too?

Chris comfortable in Congo

21 Feb 2012

We received a transmission from the tag a few days ago, on the 19 Feb, showing that Chris is in the same location within Congo. He has been here since the 9 January.

Martin under cover?

21 Feb 2012

We have had no signals from Martin's tag since the 11 February. Could it be that Martin is deep undercover feeding up ready to move north as Kasper did? It was exactly a month in which we received no signals from Kasper before he reappeared some 350 miles north of his last known position. We will have to wait to see...

No further movement from Kasper

21 Feb 2012

Kasper transmitted at 09.17 today but hasn't moved any further from his previous location.

Clement clocks out of Congo!

20 Feb 2012

No longer the most southerly Cuckoo, we received a transmission from Clement's tag at 9.35 today that showed that he had moved 450km north-west and is now in Cameroon. This is the second large northwards movement that we have seen from one of our Cuckoos, with Kasper having moved north-west into Nigeria. It is an exciting time as the birds start their migration back to Europe.

Kasper now in Nigeria

13 Feb 2012

Since first hearing from Kasper again on the 7 February, he has since moved over 1,500km (950 miles) north west into Nigeria where we received a signal on the 9 February. Yesterday (12 February ) a new transmission showed that he had moved a further 100 miles south west towards the coast.

It will be interesting to see if he continues to take a coastal route back north, given that he crossed the Sahara near the widest point on his journey south.

No new locations from Chris

07 Feb 2012
Chris’s tag was picked up by the satellite at 07.25 this morning, and he is still in his position close to the border with DRC.
