Victor has left

20 Jun 2018
Victor is in France, having arrived late evening on 17 June. He is using the same area of woodland close to Chateauroux, that Lambert used on his way south.

Trailblazing Thomas

20 Jun 2018
For a short while it seemed that Thomas might be overtaken by Lambert but this wasn't to be, Thomas is still currently our most southerly Cuckoo, having moved 222km (138 miles) further south. He is on the Mediterranean coast close to Narbonne.

Sylvester moves to the Fens

20 Jun 2018
Sylvester was tagged in Thetford Forest on 3 June. A few days later he left the forest and has spent most of his time since then in the Fens between Littleport, Feltwell and Southery.

Selborne still in the New Forest

20 Jun 2018
Since arriving back in the forest in April, Selborne has remained in the area around his tagging site. He is currently using the area of forest between Beaulieu and Brockenhurst.

Robinson still in Sherwood Forest

20 Jun 2018
Since being tagged on 15 May, Robinson has remained close to his tagging site in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, but it could only be a matter of time before he begins his long journey south.

Raymond still in Sussex

20 Jun 2018
Of the three Cuckoos tagged on the Knepp Estate, Sussex, just over a month ago, Raymond is the only one still in Britain. How long will it be before he too makes his move across the Channel?

PJ still in King's Forest

20 Jun 2018
PJ has remained faithful to the northern part of King's Forest, Suffolk, since his arrival here on 17 April. Having been seen several times in this location it seems he is frequenting areas of the forest that are being used by at least one female Cuckoo that appears to be watching the breeding Tree Pipits. As we are coming close to the end of the Tree Pipit breeding season he could well begin his journey south soon.

Larry still in Bowland

20 Jun 2018
Since arriving back in the UK on 8 May, Larry has remained faithful to his tagging site in the Forest of Bowland. With some of our Cuckoos now in France, Larry could leave any day now.

Lambert close to the Mediterranean

20 Jun 2018
Lambert didn't stay long in central France. On 15 June we received locations from his tag that showed he had moved south and was 64km (39 miles) from the Mediterranean, north of Montpellier. He has travelled 806km (500 miles) since leaving the Knepp Estate in Sussex. His locations show that he is moving around wooded hillsides close to Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouviere. It will be interesting to see if he stays here or moves to the Po Valley in Northern Italy, which is a known stopover site for some of our Cuckoos.

Thomas is on his way south

15 Jun 2018
Since having his tag fitted, Thomas spent the next 9 days moving around his tagging site in Thetford Forest, Norfolk. However, during the early morning of 14 May we recieved a series of locations from his tag that showed he had left the forest, heading southeast over East Anglia and Kent, before crossing the English Channel and flying over northern France. He didn't stop there, he is currently in the south of France, in a patch of woodland close to Langeac. He has flown 850km (528 miles) in two days and is our most southerly Cuckoo at this time.
