PJ on his way back

29 Jan 2019

During the last few days we have received locations from PJ’s tag that show he is on his way back. He is now 754km (468 miles) north and east of his winter location in Angola and on the northern edge of the Teke Plateau.

Larry on the move?

29 Jan 2019
During the last couple of days we received a series of locations from Larry's tag that show him on the Teke Plateau, Congo, 522km (324 miles) north of his mid-winter location in Angola. We will have to wait for some better locations to confirm this and for it to appear on his map, but it does look like Larry is on his way back.

No news from Lambert

29 Jan 2019
We haven't heard anything from Lambert's tag since the beginning of January. However, at that time the temperature readings show that he was alive although the battery charge on the tag was low. We have our fingers crossed that when Lambert leaves the rainforest his tag will begin charging and we will receive more locations.

Victor leads the way

18 Jan 2019
During the last couple of days Victor has headed north with a vengeance, completing a flight of 646km (401 miles). He is now in eastern Central African Republic and currently further north than any of our other tagged Cuckoos.

Sherwood still moving north

18 Jan 2019
During the last few days Sherwood's tag shows that he has moved another 115km (71 miles) further north. He is now on the northern edge of the Lope National Park, Gabon, in an area of fairly dense forest.

PJ heads west

18 Jan 2019
PJ has left the Coutada do Ambriz reserve and headed west towards the Angolan coast. Having flown 32km (20 miles), he is now only 5km (3 miles) from the coast and just to the southeast of the coastal town of Ambriz

Knepp has moved North

18 Jan 2019
Knepp has begun his long journey back to the UK. During the last week or so, Knepp has headed north within Angola and is now 96km (59 miles) north of his mid-winter location.

Bowie on the move

18 Jan 2019
During the last week locations received from Bowie's tag show that he has left Angola and headed north. He is now in southwest Congo, 2813km (176 miles) north of his mid-winter location. Bowie is on his way back.

Sherwood continues north

07 Jan 2019
During the last few days we have recieved locations from Sherwood's tag that shows he didn't stay on the southern border of Gabon for very long. In the early hours of 5 January his tag showed that he had travelled 286km (178 miles) north and west and was in central Gabon just to the south of Fougamou and close to the Ngounie River. Around breakfast on 7 January we recieved a series of low quality locations from his tag that show he hasn't hung around and has flown a further 134km (83 miles) north. This won't show on his map until we receive higher quality locations. This movement has seen him fly 420km (260 miles). Sherwood is on his way back.

Victor clocks in

03 Jan 2019
On 28 December we received a series of locations from Victor's tag that showed he is still alive, although the battery charge on his tag is very low. He is still in dense forest in central eastern Gabon. He is currently on the eastern edge of a band of thunderstorms and it is 30 degrees.
