Why we launched the Our future? Appeal

To engage young people, we need to listen to young people. We need to understand the barriers they face and hear their ideas about what they think will encourage more young people to become interested in and engaged with BTO.

We launched this Appeal in 2020 after setting up BTO’s Youth Advisory Panel, to help support their vision of a diverse, vibrant community of young birders supported by BTO, with accessible, youth-led opportunities inspiring young people to engage with nature and science.

Funding BTO Youth

The appeal helped us to expand our Youth work by recruiting our Youth Representatives, setting up our Equipment Donation Scheme, developing our Bird Camps, and much more.

Since 2020, we have engaged over 3,000 young people at events, donated binoculars and books to 2,800 young people and schools, and written a new strategy for 2023–28.
