Join BTO Youth and Vale Landscape Heritage Trust (VLHT) for a bird box making and birdwatching session at Hipton Hill Orchard, led by Youth Representative Amy.

Join BTO Youth Representative Amy and the Vale Landscape Heritage Trust team for a two-part bird box making and birdwatching session at Hipton Hill Orchard, located in Lenchwick.

Participants will have the opportunity to make bird boxes from scratch, with support from the team on the day, which will then be placed across the orchard. You can also choose to attend a guided bird walk and talk, where you will find out more about the ecology of local birds and develop your bird identification skills.

There will be two groups which will rotate on the activities. These sessions will take approx. 2.5 hours (1.25 hours each). You can choose to attend just one or both, depending on your interests! Family groups are welcome.

Unfortunately, toilets are not located on site and lunch can be purchased in the local area prior to or after the event. There will be a short walk for the birdwatching section of this event and there is a steady incline on a section of the site. Uneven ground will be identified on parts of the walk, which may be challenging for wheelchair users.

This event is run with the support of BTO and Vale Landscape Heritage Trust.

Please note that this event is free to attend and open to 16–25-year-olds. We encourage family groups with children aged 16+ to attend this event. Please register up to five individuals as part of your group.

Participants under 18 will need to fill in a consent form with their parent(s)/carer(s) and send this to BTO before the event.

We understand that travel can sometimes be a barrier to access events. If this is a potential barrier for you, please email youth [at] bto.org and we will see what we can do to help.
