Raymond is in Cameroon

18 Mar 2019
Over the weekend, Raymond moved west, crossing the border into Cameroon. He is currently in gallery forest to the west of the Lom River and the town of Maraba, and 382km (237 miles) from his stopover site in CAR.

Where's Lambert?

18 Mar 2019
We haven't heard from Lambert since 7 March but at the time the information from his tag shows he was alive. However, the battery charge was quite low. At the time he was still in southern Congo but it will be interesting to see if he pops up further north and west, hopefully once his tag recieves more charge.

Knepp has moved further west

18 Mar 2019
After spending a few days close to the border with Ghana, Knepp has moved 215km (134 miles) further west. He is now to the west of the Ivory Coast capital, Yamoussoukro in an area of small fields and plantations.

Bowie moves again

18 Mar 2019
Over the weekend Bowie moved south and west within Ivory Coast. Having spent a couple of weeks in eastern Ivory Coast he is now close to the western border and Liberia. He has flown 231km (143 miles) to get to his current location, an area of palm plantations close to the village of Niapoyo.

Carlton II is in West Africa

15 Mar 2019
The poor locations we received from Carlton II's tag a few days ago suggested that he was on the move, however, during the evening of 14 March he popped up in Ivory Coast, close to the border with Guinea and south of the town of Blaneu. He is 2,267km (1,408 miles) from his last location in Cameroon.

Larry is back

15 Mar 2019
Having not heard from Larry for the last four weeks we were beginning to wonder what had happened to him; well know we know. During the evening of 14 March he popped up in Guinea, almost 3,000km (2,000 miles) from his last known location in Congo. He is now further west than any of our tagged Cuckoos and currently in the Guinea Highlands to the southest of the village of Boutoudou. He is now 5,000km (3,000 miles) from his breeding area in the Forest of Bowland, Lancashire. He arrived back in the UK on 8 May in 2018 and on 4 May in 2017.

Victor is on his way

11 Mar 2019

On 9 March we received a couple of locations that suggested that Victor was in Cameroon and just after 8am on 11 March we received a good quality location that proved this is the case. However, he isn’t in Cameroon, he is in eastern Ghana, close to the border with Ivory Coast. During the last few days he has flown almost 2,000km (1,250 miles). He is in fairly open forest close to the village of Broni. His map will update overnight.

Selborne doubles back

11 Mar 2019

Selborne has left Guinea and headed back east and into Ivory Coast. He seems to be homing in on the rains that are currently prevalent in the southern half of Ivory Coast. This wasn’t a short journey, he is 376km (234 miles) from his location in Guinea. This shows the importance of homing in on the rains and that our Cuckoos have the ability to do this.

Raymond on the move

11 Mar 2019

Raymond is still in CAR, however, in the last few days he has moved 162km (100 miles) to the west. He is still in the gallery forest to the north of the rainforest but much closer to the border with Cameroon.

Where’s Larry?

11 Mar 2019

We haven’t heard from Larry since 21 February but at the time the data we got from his tag showed that he was alive and that the battery charge on the tag was OK. All we can do is hope that he will ‘pop-up’ again soon.
