Raymond still in Burkina Faso
07 Nov 2018
Raymond has now been in Burkina Faso for over two months. During the last few days we have received a number of locations from his tag that show he is alive and well and still to the north of the Po Forest.
Lambert has moved south
07 Nov 2018
Having spent around a week in northeast Congo Lambert moved south and east, flying 400km (250 miles) to eastern, central Congo and close to the northern edge of the Teke Plateau. He is currently in an area of dense rainforest.
Knepp in Angola
07 Nov 2018
Locations received from Knepp's tag on 5 November showed that he had moved out of Gabon and was in Angola, flying through Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo on the way. He is currently in the northeast corner of Angola and 50km north of Bowie, another of our satellite tagged Cuckoos. During this movement Bowie has flown 610km (379 miles). He is to the south of Booue and the Ogooue River.
Carlton II in Gabon
07 Nov 2018
On 4 November we received locations that showed Carlton had headed east and south out of Niger, passing through Nigeria, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea on his way to Gabon. He has flown over 1,600km (1,000 miles) to reach his current location. He is in an area of dense forest to the south of Booue and the Ogooue River.
Bowie our most southerly Cuckoo
07 Nov 2018
A few days ago we received a series of locations that showed Bowie had left Gabon and was in the north-west corner of Angola, 714km (444 miles) south of his stopover site in Gabon. He is currently in an area of forest 58km (36 miles) from the Atlantic Coast.
Victor has moved south
19 Oct 2018
During the last couple of weeks, Victor has moved south out of Cameroon and into Gabon. He is currently to the northwest of the Teke plateau and close to three of our other tagged Cuckoos, Bowie, Knepp and Robinson, in an area of very dense forest.
Thomas our most southerly Cuckoo
19 Oct 2018
Since arriving in the Congo Basin Thomas has moved south and west into the rainforest proper. He is currently in southwest Congo in dense forest. As the crow flies, he is 6,222km (3,866 miles) from his East Anglian breeding site.
Sylvester is alive
19 Oct 2018
We have received a couple of locations from Sylvester's tag in the last week or so that show he is in Central African Republic. However, the battery charge is low and considering that he is now in an area of dense forest it might not get a good charge for a while - we will have to wait and see what happens next.
Sherwood heading east
19 Oct 2018
It was beginning to look like Sherwood might never leave the beach in Senegal but on 29 September he began the journey east in earnest. In the last three weeks he has travelled through Senegal, Mali, the northern tip of Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Togo and onwards into Benin, a distance of 2,239km (1,391 miles). He is currently just tom the south of Tokou in an area of open country with scattered small trees, and the temperature is around 31 degrees C in light south-easterly winds, perfect conditions for an onward flight.
