Special day giving

If you or a loved one is passionate about birds and securing a better future for wildlife, you could celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or other special days by supporting our work.

Inviting donations on your special day

If you have everything you need and your friends and family are insisting on having a party or buying presents why not ask for donations to be made and use this as an opportunity to raise funds for the BTO?

Whether it’s because you love watching the birds in your garden or have a passion for birdwatching, requesting donations instead of material goods is really rewarding for you and those making the gifts.

It’s a perfect way to support Britain’s birds and aid their conservation, and we can send you a certificate to show how much you have raised.

Get in touch

If you would like to use your special occasion – be it a birthday, anniversary, retirement, wedding or even Christmas – as an opportunity to support us, we’d love to hear from you, and we can provide promotional material to help you with the event.

Give BTO membership as a gift

Gifting BTO membership to a loved one will allow them to learn about birds, their lives, and the environment around them through exclusive content. We’ll keep them up-to-date on our progress, achievements, the impact our science is having, and our future – all through our quarterly magazine BTO News, and a regular e-newsletter.

Gift membership also includes your choice of Collins BTO Guide to British Birds or BTO’s Garden Birds and Other Wildlife.

Sponsor a Cuckoo for your loved one

You can celebrate your loved one's special day by sponsoring a BTO Cuckoo in their name. This is a really popular way to see first-hand the movements of this iconic migratory bird.

We will send your loved one regular updates detailing the latest news as the drama of the journeys of our Cuckoos unfolds.

Donate to an appeal close to their heart

Make a donation to one of our appeals to support an area of work your loved one really cares about. We can produce a personalised certificate and letter acknowledging a donation made in their name.

  • Contact our Fundraising Team on 01842 750050 or email fundraising [at] bto.org for more information.

A lasting gift on a special day

“When we celebrated our wedding we suggested that guests might want to support the BTO’s Migration Atlas, and particularly the Pink-footed Goose pages, instead of giving us presents.

We raised hundreds of pounds for BTO, and each skein of Pink-feet we see is a reminder of a great day. A flock of toasters would have had far less appeal!”
