Arthur was named by the tag funder in memory of their grandfather, who was one of the very first family doctors in the NHS.
Ashok
In memory of Ashok Kumar Kapur, who was one of the very best of people. We hope Ashok travels well and is able to inspire others along his way.
Cleeve
Cleeve was named by his tag funder after Cleeve Hill, outside Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. He was tagged in 2023 near Thetford.
Cuach Cores
Named by the National Parks & Wildlife Service after a mountain in Killarney National Park, where he was tagged.
Frederic
Named by the tag funder, who chose Frederic because it is a family name. Frederic was tagged in 2025 in Norfolk.
Hafren
Hafren was named by Severn Trent Water. The name is Welsh for Severn; the ‘f’ in Hafren is pronounced as a ‘v’.
Jim
The name Jim was chosen by the tag funder, in memory of former BTO Director and ornithological giant, Jim Flegg OBE.
Joe
Named with love in honour of the tag sponsor’s late husband, Joe. The couple much enjoyed watching the Cuckoos' arrival each spring near their home.
Norman
Named by the tag funder in memory of Norman McKinnon of first Glasgow and later Carnoustie, "a wonderful Scottish gentleman".
Sayaan
Named after Cuckoo funder Anne Master's new baby cousin. Sayaan is an old Saka name which means “kind, generous and warm like the sun”.
Wilfrid
Named by an anonymous funder in loving memory of her father. Wilfrid was tagged in 2024 at Worlingham Marshes, a Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve.
Wingston (Churchbill)
Wingston was named by the flock at Cuckoo Broadband, who are eagerly watching this one small tag turn into one giant journey.
