Chris stays near Maastricht

20 Jun 2011

Early on Monday morning (20 June) Chris was still in The Netherlands about 20km (12 miles) NNE of Maastricht. We are interested to see where he will go next – as he had left Thetford Forest to the south we had expected him to follow Clement into France, both he and Kasper are to the south-east of their tagging locations. Will they continue in that direction or turn west and go past the west end of the Alps like Clement?

Will Lyster be the next to leave?

20 Jun 2011

On Sunday (19 June) Lyster was still close to Reedham. Lyster is the last of the one year old males remaining in the breeding area. Will he be the next to leave?

Will Martin out-stay the rest?

20 Jun 2011

Early on Sunday (19 June) morning Martin was still close to Runham. As the only adult male amongst our sample of tagged birds, Martin might be expected to remain in the UK looking for mating opportunities longer than the other birds. Watch this space.

Clement may be moving east

20 Jun 2011

By early Sunday morning Clement appeared to have moved east back towards his previous location but the accuracy of this position is low so it is difficult to be sure.

Chris has left the country!

17 Jun 2011

An accurate location received in the afternoon of Friday (17 June) places Chris in a narrow finger of the Netherlands just a few kms from both Belguim and Germany! Chris has moved 370km (230 miles) due east from Sedlescombe in two days – he is our third Cuckoo to leave the country.

Clement moves closer to the coast

17 Jun 2011

On Thursday (16 June) afternoon Clement was 12km (7 miles) east of Toulon, very close to the southern tip of the south coast of France.

Martin near Great Yarmouth

17 Jun 2011

By Thursday afternoon, Martin had moved slightly south and was in the area 5km (3 miles) inland from Great Yarmouth, just north of the River Bure near Runham.

Rob Martin reports that on the morning of 7 June he and Daniel Watson found a Cuckoo with a transmitter antenna visible coming from its back in Winterton Dunes. Clearly this was Martin and provides nice confirmation of his stay in the area!

Kasper's new location coming soon

17 Jun 2011

As of 1600hrs on Friday afternoon, we have received no new locations for Kasper. His tag should start to transmit anytime now - at 1000hrs on Saturday any new locations from this transmission period will appear on the maps.

Lyster detected near Reedham

17 Jun 2011

On Thursday afternoon, Lyster was still close to Reedham.

Clement almost at the Med'

15 Jun 2011

Clement has continued to move south in France – by midday on Tuesday (14 June) he had almost reached the southern coast and was located in a range of wooded hills 30km (18 miles) ENE of Toulon.
