No further message from Martin

25 Jan 2012

We received a good location for Martin on the 16th but this is the only message we have received from his tag in the past ten days. Despite the recent sunshine, the tags aren't charging to very high levels suggesting they are spending time under the forest canopy or in other dense vegetation.

Cloud reveals Clement

25 Jan 2012

The cloud cleared and we received a good location for Clement on 22 January which showed no change from his previous location in Congo.

No further movement from Chris

19 Jan 2012

We received a strong transmission from Chris at 02.47 this morning placing him still just inside Congo, close to the border with DRC.

Cloud cover means poor signals

19 Jan 2012

A couple of poor transmissions suggest no movement from Lyster from the area that he has now been in since 8 November.

Kasper under cloud

19 Jan 2012

We last heard from Kasper on 6 January. With the cloudy conditions that our birds are experiencing at the moment we think that Kasper’s tag might not be charging too well. The forecast for the weekend is for much less cloud and more sunshine, this should help to charge the tag, so we could hear from Kasper then.

News from Martin

19 Jan 2012

After some weak signals we received a stronger  transmission from Martin at 01.07 on 16 January which showed him in the same place as previously, close to the town of Oko, Congo.

Cloudy for Clement

19 Jan 2012
We last heard from Clement two days ago. A transmission from him in the evening of 17 January showed that he was still in the area of Congo that he has now been in since 23 November.

Weak signals from Martin

11 Jan 2012

We heard from Martin today but this, and the previous three transmissions, have been very weak and so it is hard to say accurately where he is. Hopefully we will get a stronger signal from him soon.

Chris moves north

09 Jan 2012
Chris has moved north-west from his previous location in Democratic Republic of Congo, around 85km (54miles), and rejoined the other four Cuckoos in Congo. His last transmission was on 7 January. This could be a local movement as he seeks suitable habitat, or perhaps the beginning of his migration? The next few signals received will give us a better idea so stay tuned.

A weak signal from Lyster

09 Jan 2012
A weak transmission from Lyster was received on 5 Jan which showed no movement. It has been very cloudy in the area that some of the cuckoos are in, with typically over 80% cloud cover on most days so this could explain the weak signal.
