Concern for Sylvester

The last location from Sylvester's tag just over a week ago showed that the battery charge was low. We will have to wait and see if this improves to find out where Sylvester is. Fingers crossed he will pop-up soon.

Sherwood to the north of the Niger Delta

The last week has seen Sherwood move south and east out of Benin and into Nigeria. He is currently in an area of fairly open forest to the north of the town of Arimogija and 460km (286 miles) from his Benin stopover site.

Selborne is in Gabon

Having reported on 19 October that Selborne was in southwest Nigeria, he popped-up the vey next day in Equatorial Guinea, almost 400km (250 miles) to the southeast. During the last week of October he moved south and crossed the border with Gabon and has since moved further south and east. He is currently in eastern central Gabon in an area of fairly dense rainforest.

Robinson in Gabon

Robinson has left Nigeria and is now in Gabon, in an area that quite a few of our tagged Cuckoos have used this autumn. His latest location is 1,614km (1,003 miles) from his last stopover site in Nigeria.

Raymond still in Burkina Faso

Raymond has now been in Burkina Faso for over two months. During the last few days we have received a number of locations from his tag that show he is alive and well and still to the north of the Po Forest.

Lambert has moved south

Having spent around a week in northeast Congo Lambert moved south and east, flying 400km (250 miles) to eastern, central Congo and close to the northern edge of the Teke Plateau. He is currently in an area of dense rainforest.

Knepp in Angola

07 Nov 2018
Locations received from Knepp's tag on 5 November showed that he had moved out of Gabon and was in Angola, flying through Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo on the way. He is currently in the northeast corner of Angola and 50km north of Bowie, another of our satellite tagged Cuckoos. During this movement Bowie has flown 610km (379 miles). He is to the south of Booue and the Ogooue River.

Carlton II in Gabon

On 4 November we received locations that showed Carlton had headed east and south out of Niger, passing through Nigeria, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea on his way to Gabon. He has flown over 1,600km (1,000 miles) to reach his current location. He is in an area of dense forest to the south of Booue and the Ogooue River.

Bowie our most southerly Cuckoo

A few days ago we received a series of locations that showed Bowie had left Gabon and was in the north-west corner of Angola, 714km (444 miles) south of his stopover site in Gabon. He is currently in an area of forest 58km (36 miles) from the Atlantic Coast.

Victor has moved south

During the last couple of weeks, Victor has moved south out of Cameroon and into Gabon. He is currently to the northwest of the Teke plateau and close to three of our other tagged Cuckoos, Bowie, Knepp and Robinson, in an area of very dense forest.
