Raymond in CAR

25 Feb 2019

At breakfast on 21 February Raymond was still between the Congo and Sangha rivers, deep in the Congo rainforest. By breakfast on 23 February is was almost 600km (370 miles) to the north in Central African Republic. He is now in the much more open gallery forest beyond the northern edge of the rainforest.

PJ still in Cameroon

25 Feb 2019

PJ has been in Cameroon for almost a month now. In 2017 he left Cameroon on 22 February and on the 23rd in 2018. We expect PJ to head into West Africa any day now.

Still no confirmation from Larry

25 Feb 2019

Even though the locations we are getting from Larry’s tag are of poor quality they all show him the rainforest to the north of the Teke Plateau in northern Congo, so we are sure this is where he is. Once he pops out of the dense rainforest we should begin to receive better quality locations.

Lambert still in Angola

25 Feb 2019

We are receiving some good quality locations from Lambert’s tag that show he is alive and moving around the area of coastal Angola he has been in for the last three weeks.

Knepp hasn’t moved

25 Feb 2019

We have received seven locations from Knepp’s tag over the last ten days or so, that show he is alive and well but not moving very far in the bit of rainforest he has been in since the beginning of February.

A small movement from Carlton II

25 Feb 2019

During the last few days we have received quite a few locations from Carlton II’s tag and he has moved 20km (12 miles) to the north of Ivindo National Park, Gabon.

Bowie is on his way

25 Feb 2019

During the last couple of days Bowie has undertaken a huge journey. On the evening of 23 February his tag began sending locations from Ghana, 1,400km (900 miles) from his stopover site in Gabon. He is currently between Lake Volta and the border with Togo. The fact that he didn’t do a stopover on the northern edge of the rainforest leads us to believe that he might have undertaken a sea crossing over the Gulf of Guinea. However, it is impossible to tell for sure as we received no locations from the tag over the sea.

Robinson has moved west

20 Feb 2019

Robinson has been on the northeastern edge of the Ivindo National Park for almost six weeks. However, he has now moved 165km (102 miles) north and west, and is currently in fairly dense rainforest close to the border with Equatorial Guinea.

Bowie heads north

20 Feb 2019

Bowie has been close to the Niara river for a month but by breakfast on 19 February he had moved 340km (212 miles) north and west. He is still in Gabon and is on the north western edge of the Waka National Park.

Raymond moves east

18 Feb 2019

Having spent over two months on the northern edge of the Teke Plateau, Raymond has moved 245km (152 miles) east towards the Congo River. He is currently between the Congo and Sangha rivers, in dense rainforest. The battery charge on his tag is now much better, so we should hear from him much more frequently.
