The end of the road for Jasper
Jasper moves south
Over the last couple of days Jasper has moved south and is now in the countryside west of Saint-Julien-du-Sault in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in north-central France.
Restless Jasper moves south again
Having flown 50 km (31 miles) north to Nangis in the Île-de-France region, Jasper has since flown 37 km (23 miles) south again.
He is now close to the town of Vallery in the Yonne department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in north-central France.
Jasper turns north
Since our last update, Jasper has retraced part of his journey south, flying 132 km (82 miles) north to his new location close to La Belliole in the Yonne department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in north-central France.
Cuckoo Jasper sets off
Cuckoo Jasper has left his breeding grounds in the King’s Forest, Suffolk and flown 630 km (391 miles) south, across the English Channel and into France.
By the early hours of this morning (Monday 3 June) Jasper was close to the village of Rouy, in the Nièvre department of central-east France.
Introducing Jasper
Jasper was the first Cuckoo tagged in 2023.
Since being tagged on 12 May, he has remained near his tagging location in the King’s Forest, a few miles south-west of our headquarters in Thetford.
