Spring Birding Support - Online Introduction (Northern Ireland)

Would you like additional local support to increase your confidence in your birdwatching skills? Join this online session to hear about this free opportunity in Northern Ireland.

Event Description

We'd like to help you to get the most out of the wonderful birdwatching that spring brings, by helping to increase your confidence in bird identification and recording through in-person support at nature sites local to you.

In this online session, meet our friendly team who are available this spring to help you feel more confident with bird identification and/or survey skills, whether you’ve done some surveys before or you are yet to give your first survey a go.

BTO are very committed to increasing participation in BTO-led schemes and surveys in Northern Ireland, including the Breeding Bird Survey. We’re pleased to be able to offer additional support locally to help increase skills and confidence, and we’d like to hear from you to better understand what would be most beneficial for you.

By joining this session you are not committing to anything - this is intended as a friendly and informal opportunity to meet our team and explore our opportunities for tailored support.

**If you are unable to attend the online introduction on 1st April, but you are interested in the Spring Birding Support we have on offer, please still sign up for this online introduction so we can send you more details.**

This session is free and will be online using Zoom, lasting approximately 1 hour. We'll send joining information closer to the time.

Why take part in our Spring Birding Support scheme?

  • Maybe you'd enjoy getting out into nature with others in a small group, and learning from others about our wonderful birds and how to identify them?
  • Maybe you're looking to open doors to more employment opportunities in the conservation sector? Bird identification and survey experience are highly sought after in conservation. We want to provide more opportunities to access training in these skills.
  • Maybe you feel nearly ready to have a go at a bird survey, like the Breeding Bird Survey, but would like to give it a go in a low pressure environment first to build your confidence?
  • Maybe you're already doing some bird surveys, and you would like to meet other surveyors to answer your questions and boost your confidence in any details of the surveys?

Whatever your motivations, we want to facilitate birdwatching learning for all levels of interest and experience, whether you've recently started birdwatching or you're a long-time enthusiast. So join us!
