Telling winter waders apart can be daunting. However, it is made much easier if you are familiar with two key species: Knot and Dunlin. Being able to confidently identify these birds also makes it more likely that you will spot any rare species that may be present.
This ID video tackles these two ‘confusing calidrids’ - Dunlin and Knot - to help you gain the confidence and experience needed to identify the apparently bewildering range of waders on our coasts in autumn and winter.
