In 2014, Buzzard records from BirdTrack were used alongside other data in a court case concerning a poisoning incident. Another raptor frequently making the headlines for the wrong reasons in Britain and Ireland is the Hen Harrier.

This year, as part of the 'Heads up for Harriers' initiative in Scotland, BirdTrack records of Hen Harrier are being passed to selected Scottish Raptor Study Group harrier coordinators on a fortnightly basis. This will help highlight Hen Harrier breeding areas and ensure that wherever possible, monitoring of breeding birds can take place. 2015 is also the year of the latest Irish Hen Harrier Survey.
